"Single Drawn" remy human hair is collected from one donor, and is considered Grade 6A (AAAAAA) hair.  Usually the head of the donor is shaved and/or the hair is collected in a ponytail, with natural long and short strands collected in each bundle. The cuticle is intact and aligned, going in the same direction, and the hair is unprocessed in it's raw form. This type of hair is also virgin hair, and is the second most sought after hair on the market. This single donor hair is sold in 4 oz bundles, which is a not a full head application. Generally it takes up to 3 - 4 bundles for a full head, weave in application. This means several different donor's hair, make up a full head application. Remy single drawn hair can be colored and styled like your natural hair and lasts up to 2 years with proper care. Most of this hair is considered a 50/30/20 hair ratio. Most popular hair extensions on the marker today are made with a standard hair ratio of 40/30/30. It means that 40% of the extension hair is made up of the longest pieces of hair, the next 30% will be the next shortest hair, and the last 30% of the extension hair is the shortest hair.

 

The next grade of hair, is processed hair (colored and textured straight or wavy) starting at Grade 5A (AAAAA). The the next grades are  4A,  3A,  2A, 1A, down to 0 grade, or no grade for non- remy human and animal hair. Most clip-in human hair extensions are Grade 3A hair, however, many hair extensions companies sell non-graded hair. Low grade hair is the least expensive hair to buy, and can be sold at a high profit.  

 

 

Non Remy Hair  

 

Non Remy hair extensions is hair strands gathered with the hair cuticles going in different directions, and/or hairs that are processed and stripped of the cuticle. This leaves the hair somewhat smooth, (at first), but it will become brittle and tangle quickly within a few times of wearing and washing. This is non-graded hair,  Grade 0, 1A (A), or Grade 2A (AA) hair, and can be a mix of remy and non remy hair strands, synthetic fibers, and sometimes animal hair.   Though these are sold as remy hair extensions, (remember, remy hair is any hair that has the cuticle intact), you may not be getting cuticle aligned remy hair extensions, or 100% human hair extensions. Low grade hair is often hair that has been swept off the floor and collected into bundles. Though it is marketed and sold as Remy Hair Extensions, and may be remy cuticle hair, the hair is not aligned, and the cuticles are going in different directions. The hair is mixed with several different donor's hair, different hair textures, different colors, gray hair, often synthetic fibers, and more often animal hair. Some of the hair has been stripped of the cuticle, some has the cuticle is partially intact. 

 

It is common for most popular remy hair extension companies sell 3A through Grade 0  human hair extensions. These lower grades of hair are generally less expensive, since the life of the hair is short,  the hair is less desirable, and cheap to get. This type of hair is good to use for those who will be using hair extensions occasionally. It is not recommended for regular use or semi-permanent applications or weaves. You must ask your seller what grade your human hair extensions are before you buy.

Our hair ratio is 60/20/20, which means 60% of the extension is made up of the longest strands, 20 % is the next longest, and the next 20% are the shortest strands. Our hair ratio is above average, for a natural, but full look. Most hair extensions on the market today are a 40/30/30 ratio or less.

 

All human hair extensions dry out faster than natural hair once it is cut, processed, and no longer has access to natural oils from the scalp.
